History, Mission and Objectives
The Jefferson Alumni Association was formed in August 2006 by three associated founders, Maggie Mashia (Class of 1980), Eric Mashia (Class of 1974) and Ricky Pettiford, (staff of Jefferson for over 17 years) who wanted to support the school which was facing significant internal and external challenges. In November 2008, Jefferson Alumni Association received its 501(c) (3) status and began to tackle the negative image of Jefferson being portrayed and the lack of community support.
The mission of the association is to restore the rich tradition of graduating renowned scholars and athletes. As a non-profit organization, we plan to influence positive change with private support. The Alumni and friends of Jefferson High School will be the catalyst to cultivate a support system in the Jefferson community.

OUR OBJECTIVES
- Create an avenue for participation of alumni, parents, students, present and past teachers to get involved in restoring school pride and improve enrollment and high school graduation.
- To challenge students of Jefferson to pursue and maximize their potential through our mentoring, encouragement, and one-on-one contact.
- To provide scholarships to needy students during their high school and post high school experience.
- Generate a social forum for alumni and supporters to come together to build a positive foundation of comradery for the Jefferson community.
